Ferris Beuller Was Right!

Hey-- "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it" -- Ferris Beuller.

And how right Ferris was!  This movie came out in 1986, the year I graduated high school.   I am pretty sure I can blame Ferris for not wanting to "commit" to a major in college for years -- I didn't want to "BE" a job.   I don't remember if Ferris said those words too, but I know I had him in my brain as I evaluated EVERYTHING through the lens of "Life moves pretty fast...Stop and look around!"

So... I took a day off.  Actually, I took two days.   Sunday, I had the pleasure of jumping in a car with one of my 'besties' to go see our other 'bestie' for her birthday at the 280 Boogie Festival in Alabama.   Driving to another state, stopping for coffee and chocolate croissants, listening to amazing live music,  celebrating life with good friends -- all things I needed!  And yesterday, I took the day to focus on illustrating my upcoming book (HTRP), ignoring all other responsibilities except those that needed food and water.

And today, I feel GREAT!    The notion of time haunts me always, but in the vein of last week's blog, I do feel as if I conquered time this past week...Day by Day, hour by hour, minute by minute...That's all we can do!

If you have never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off, you must.  If you have seen it before, watch it again.  At the very least, take a day off for yourself to look around.  Hit the road.  Listen to music on the porch.  Eat some chocolate!

This life moves too fast....don't miss it!

As is my new tradition, I'm ending this today with a thoughtful quote, this time, of course,  from the movie, Ferris Beuller's Day Off:

"The question isn’t ‘What are we going to do?’ The question is ‘What aren’t we going to do?'"-- Ferris

I hope you'll subscribe to follow this journey! I'll be posting at least weekly on Tuesdays, maybe more often.  And here's my Linktree so you can find and follow other things I am doing.

Cheers,

Jeannie
