HTRP is a ryhming verse, colorfully illustrated, Chapter Book series for pet lovers, aged 7 and up, although younger children will love being read the story too.

The plot of the series begins in Book One with Hugo, an incorrigible, little pug, always finding trouble! And, he is ALWAYS hungry!

In Book One, Hugo and Cat make their way to a grocery store. After causing loads of trouble, Hugo's character is tested as he has to help save a family of ducks on his way home.
Throughout the series, in his great, never-ending journey to find food, Hugo faces many challenges and learns about friendship, determination, and good character.
With the help of his family and friends, some even magical, Hugo also explores many important animal issues during his adventures -- animal safety, animal diet, adoption, and senior animal care, to name a few, as well as human issues, such as self-esteem, bullying, and family issues.
