SONG SYNOPSIS

“Dirty Little Secret” was inspired by a real-life confession Jeannie Caryn heard as a loyal listener of Atlanta’s New Country 101-FIVE and the My Little Secret segment on the Kincaid & Dallas Morning Show. A newlywed called in with a secret: Just days before her wedding, she had burned the vintage wedding dress her future mother-in-law expected her to wear – then covered her tracks by claiming the dress had accidentally caught fire from a candle – because she couldn’t bring herself to tell her she didn’t want to wear it. She also had a different dress that she really wanted to wear.  She went through with the wedding without even telling her husband-to-be the truth, and still hadn’t on the date of her call in to the show! 

Caryn, whose 2026 single “Farm Girl” received airplay on New Country 101-FIVE during the station’s Sunday-night Local Georgia Artist feature, imagined a different ending. In her song, the burned dress (and house)  forces the bride to confront a bigger truth: If she can’t be honest with the man she’s about to marry—or stand up to his family for what she wants—should she be marrying him at all? She gets in her truck and heads for Miami. Some call this a murder song, but Caryn leaves that open for interpretation.

Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Larry Mitchell, “Dirty Little Secret”  is a compelling pop-country story with a little poetic justice built in. Caryn lets her runaway bride escape the wedding—but not without making her own the truth she tried so hard to avoid. By the time she points her truck toward Miami, there are no more excuses, no more secrets, and no more trying to please everyone else. Her final confession says it all: “I just don’t give a damn.”

ARTIST BIO

Jeannie Caryn (pronounced “Geenie Karen”) is a Georgia-based singer-songwriter who has been performing throughout North Georgia since 2010. A three-time 2026 International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) finalist, Caryn is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Female Rising Star, and Female Songwriter of the Year.

Her debut album of original music, Mother’s Self-Rising, was released in 2020 and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and guitarist Larry Mitchell. Mitchell also produced Caryn’s 2026 single “Farm Girl,” which received Atlanta radio airplay on New Country 101-FIVE during the station’s Sunday-night Local Georgia Artist feature. Caryn reunites with Mitchell yet again for “Dirty Little Secret.”

Beyond music, Caryn is the author and illustrator of the pet-lover’s book series The Adventures of Hugo the Round Pug and creator of Music Speaks, a platform for live music events, songwriter showcases, and community connection through music.
